2nd Annual Nest Chili Cook Off
Nest Academy RVA is hosting our 2nd Annual Season of Giving: Chili Cook-Off fundraising event Saturday, November 1st.
Brief Organizational Description:
Nest Academy RVA is a growing non-profit organization, founded in 2020, filling a high need in the Richmond Metro Area special needs community. Nest's unique mission is to create enriching social and learning opportunities for high school teens and young adults with complex physical and intellectual disabilities. We are dedicated to fostering an inclusive community that prioritizes the emotional, social, and educational growth of each member. Our target population for the academic year programs includes adults who are typically non-verbal, in wheelchairs, and who require adaptive environments to engage in the community. In the summer, we extend our program to high school teens, offering them tailored experiences that enrich their personal and educational journeys.
Volunteer Position Description and Purpose:
We need volunteers to help with set-up, running game stations and activities, and clean up. All proceeds from the event will directly support Nest Academy RVA’s Adapted Adventures program and provide supplies for the Thriving Together classes.
Volunteer Duties & Responsibilities:
Set-Up: help set up tables and chairs, put up any signs/decorations, and set up games.
Event Stations: help run the games, registration, concession stand, and activities.
Clean-Up: help take down tables and chairs, pick up any trash, and put away games and activities.
Time Commitment:
Max time: 11:00 AM- 5:00 PM
Event Hours: 11:00 AM- 4:00 PM
Set Up: 11:00 AM- 1:00 PM
Clean Up: 4:00 PM- 5:00 PM
Other Information (if applicable):
- Event is outside, please wear family-friendly clothes and comfy shoes
