After-School Tutoring in 2026!
Brief Organizational Description:
Youth Life Foundation of Richmond partners with families and Richmond Public Schools to provide after-school tutoring and character development for elementary students who are the most behind and under-resourced. At our Northside Learning Center, volunteers serve once a week for about 90 minutes after school, working one-on-one or in small groups to help students build literacy and math skills, grow in confidence, and experience the consistent care of supportive adults. With 23 years of impact, Youth Life invites you to invest in changing the trajectory of a child’s life.
Qualifications, Skills, & Requirements: No former tutoring experience required! We provide all the materials and training, though it does help to have an appropriate understanding & demonstration of cultural competency and the ability to direct a small group of elementary age students. Youth Life Foundation will provide your background check and we ask that you: 1) Complete an applicaiton found here. 2) Attend our 1 hour virtual, asynchronous orientation (link provided to you after completion of application).
Time Commitment: 90 minutes, once a week. We aks tutors to commit to a full semester, though we welcome you to return as long as possible!
Other Information:
- We log your tutoring hours virtually every week and are happy to provide any documentation you need
- 1 hour orientation information will be provided once applicaiton is complete.
- Additional information on location, parking, etc. once application, background check & orientaiton is complete.
