Field Day at Blackwell Elementary School
Brief Organizational Description:
Communities In Schools (CIS) of Richmond is a nonprofit that surrounds students with a community of support, helping them stay in school and succeed. Working inside Richmond Public Schools, CIS connects students and families with essential resources, mentorship, and enrichment opportunities to remove barriers to success.
Volunteer Position Description and Purpose:
Help make Field Day a fun and memorable experience for students! Volunteers will assist with setting up activities and running game stations throughout the day.
Volunteer Duties & Responsibilities:
8:00-9:00 AM – Setup Crew

Assist with setting up field games and activity stations.

Carry equipment to designated areas (must be comfortable lifting up to 15 lbs).

Wear comfortable, weather-appropriate clothing and shoes that can get wet (morning dew).
9:00 AM-2:00 PM – Activity Station Volunteers (1-hour shifts)

Lead and supervise game stations to keep students engaged.

Provide instructions and encourage student participation.

Volunteers should be comfortable standing for extended periods and interacting with students.
Qualifications, Skills, & Requirements:
- Ability to stand and move around grassy/uneven terrain for extended periods.
- Comfortable being outdoors in the sun (with breaks).
- Enthusiastic and willing to engage with students in a positive and encouraging manner.
Time Commitment:
Volunteers can sign up for 1-hour shifts between 8:00 AM - 2:00 PM. You can sign up for as many shifts as you would like!
Other Information (if applicable):

Recommended attire: closed-toe shoes (or footwear that can get wet), comfortable clothing, hat/sunglasses.

Bring your own water bottle, sunscreen, and snacks.

Parking is available alongside the school.

Upon arrival, report to the main office with a photo ID to receive a volunteer badge.
