Oak Grove-Bellemeade Elementary School Spring Fling

Brief Organizational Description:

Communities In Schools (CIS) of Richmond is a nonprofit that surrounds students with a community of support, helping them stay in school and succeed. Working inside Richmond Public Schools, CIS connects students and families with essential resources, mentorship, and enrichment opportunities to remove barriers to success.

Volunteer Position Description and Purpose:

The Spring Fling is a fun-filled event for students and families featuring games, activities, and an egg hunt. Volunteers are needed to help with various stations, ensure smooth event operations, and create a welcoming environment for attendees.

Volunteer Duties & Responsibilities:

  • Bounce House Flow: Help manage a bounce house in 30-minute rotations, ensuring the line moves smoothly and all kids get a turn.

  • Manage Stations: Assist with event stations such as face painting, coloring, and food distribution to keep students engaged and having fun.

  • Set Up/Clean Up: Spread out eggs for the K-2 and 3-5 egg hunts and help clean up after each hunt to keep the field tidy.

  • Bunny Costume/Photo Booth: If you have a bunny costume or know someone who does, consider helping with the photo booth to create special memories for students and families.

  • Egg Donations: Can’t volunteer in person? Easter egg and candy donations are greatly appreciated! Pre-filled eggs are preferred, but we will accept eggs and candy until April 16. If dropping off at Oak Grove is a challenge, we can arrange a pick-up.

Qualifications, Skills, & Requirements:

  • No prior experience required—just enthusiasm and a willingness to help!

  • Volunteers should be comfortable working with children and families in an outdoor event setting.

Time Commitment:

  • April 17, 4:30-6:30 PM (volunteers should arrive 15 minutes early for instructions).

  • Set-up volunteers may need to arrive earlier, and clean-up volunteers may stay a bit later.

Other Information (if applicable):

  • No formal orientation is required, but instructions will be provided on-site.

  • Recommended attire: Comfortable clothing and shoes suitable for outdoor activities.

  • Parking: Available in the school lot and nearby street parking.

  • Upon arrival report to the front office with a state-issued ID to sign in and receive your visitor badge!
