Volunteer at HomeAgain's Shindig for Shelter
Brief Organizational Description:
HomeAgain is a nonprofit dedicated to helping individuals and families experiencing homelessness secure and maintain permanent housing. Through shelter, housing, and vital support services, we work to break the cycle of homelessness in the Greater Richmond community.
Volunteer Position Description and Purpose:
We are looking for enthusiastic volunteers to help make Shindig for Shelter (our annual, flagship fundraiser), a success on Friday, April 11, from 6:30 PM – 10:30 PM at the Virginia Science Museum. As a volunteer, you'll play a vital role in creating a seamless guest experience while supporting our mission to end homelessness.
Volunteer Duties & Responsibilities:
Volunteers will assist with:
- Guest check-in and paddle assignment using the OneCause platform.
- Guiding guests to key event areas, including the silent auction.
- Providing bidding assistance for the silent auction.
- Helping with auction closeout—assisting with taking down the auction, collecting items, and distributing them to winners via the OneCause Checkout process.
Qualifications, Skills, & Requirements:
- No prior experience with OneCause is needed—training will be provided!
- Volunteers should be friendly, organized, and comfortable using a laptop, tablet and/or smartphone.
- Must be 21+ (this is a ticketed event with drinks included).
Time Commitment:
- Friday, April 11 | 6:00 PM – 11:00 PM
- Volunteers will work in 2-hour shifts so they can also enjoy the event!
Other Information (if applicable):
- Volunteer Perks: A complimentary event ticket, including dinner and drinks, as a thank-you for your support!
- Attire: Cocktail attire (dress for a fun and elegant evening).
- Parking: Free event parking is available at the Virginia Science Museum.
- Training: A brief training session on OneCause will be provided before the event.
