Henderson Middle School Beautification Event
Brief Organizational Description:
Communities In Schools (CIS) of Richmond is a nonprofit that surrounds students with a community of support, helping them stay in school and succeed. Working inside Richmond Public Schools, CIS connects students and families with essential resources, mentorship, and enrichment opportunities to remove barriers to success.
Volunteer Position Description and Purpose:
Join us for a Beautification Service Event at Henderson Middle School. Volunteers will help enhance the school’s outdoor spaces, making them more inviting for students and staff. Assembling picnic tables is our top priority, so we need extra hands to get them set up!
Volunteer Duties & Responsibilities:
- Assembling new picnic tables(priority task!)
- Garden care (weeding, mulching, etc.)
- Planting flowers at the front of the building
- Planting flowers in the courtyard
Qualifications, Skills, & Requirements:
No special skills or training required—just a willingness to help! Volunteers should be comfortable with light physical activity, and those assisting with picnic table assembly should be comfortable using basic tools.
Time Commitment:
Monday, April 21st from 3:30 PM-5:00 PM
Other Information :
- Recommended attire: Comfortable clothes you don’t mind getting dirty and closed-toe shoes.
- Parking: Available in the school lot.
- Supplies: Tools and materials will be provided, but feel free to bring gardening gloves if you have them!
- What to bring: Your own water bottle, sunscreen, hat/sunglasses.
- Check-in: Upon arrival, report to the main office with a photo ID to receive a volunteer badge.
