Featured DIY - Snack Bags - Fuel for Fun!

DIY Volunteering allows families and groups of all ages and sizes to participate in community service from the comfort of their own homes. Volunteers purchase supplies and complete the kits in their own space then drop off completed projects at the designated days/times below.

Fuel for Fun Snack Bags
Beneficiary:
Start1Spark

Purpose: Start 1 Spark supports low-income middle school students in joining school extracurriculars so they can enjoy their school community with their classmates. By connecting with community members who have the ability and desire to assist students, together, they cover the cost of personal sports equipment, instrument rental, club fee, or art supplies, so more students can participate in school activities. When our students thrive, so do our communities!

Currently, Start 1 Spark partners with Henrico County Public Schools’ John Rolfe and Brookland Middle Schools and Chesterfield County Public Schools’ Falling Creek and Salem Church Middle Schools. Each school has roughly 60% of their student population qualifying for free or reduced-price meals. Most student athletes do not have access to a healthy snack after school to energize them on the field. Through the Fuel for Fun program, student athletes receive a nutritious snack to support their physical development and keep their mental focus on the game and having FUN!

Volunteers are asked to make 10 snack bags with an encouraging note.
