Equipment Repair Tech Volunteer - Installation Facility
Brief Organizational Description:
Securing the Commonwealth through leadership, collaboration, and community engagement.
Volunteer Position Description and Purpose:
Learn how to install, remove, and repair police, communications, and other electronic equipment installed in vehicles for VSP & 21 other Agencies.
Volunteer Duties & Responsibilities:
Diagnose, repair, and service a variety of vehicles. Calibrate speedometers and remove components from wrecked vehicles. Remove equipment from surplus vehicles. Repair and refurbish police, commuications, and other electronic equipment for installation in other vehicles.
Qualifications, Skills, & Requirements:
Ability to learn to diagnose, repair, and service a variety of vehicles. Ability to learn to calibrate speedometers and remove components from wrecked vehicles. Ability to learn to remove equipment from surplus vehicles. Ability to learn to repair and refurbish police, commuications, and other electronic equipment for installation in other vehicles. Ability to safelyuse shop, woodworking and mechanics hand tools. Ability to adhere to all safety and shop equipment measures. Prior experience with Automotive Technology or Electronics preferred.
Time Commitment:
Flexible hours for students. Can be discussed on an individual basis.
Other Information (if applicable):
- Volunteers can bring a volunteer log that the on duty Supervisor/Manager will sign off on.
- Orientation will be provided on the initial start day.
- Clean clothing required (no ripped jeans or graphic tees).
- Only available Monday -Friday at the Installation Facility located in N. Chesterfield, VA
- Completion of VSP Volunteer application required.
Age Minimum (with Adult): 16+, Minimum Age:16+
