Read Across America Day at Elizabeth D Redd Elementary School
Brief Organizational Description:
Communities In Schools (CIS) of Richmond surrounds students with a network of support by connecting them with critical resources, mentorship, and academic enrichment. This Read Across America, join us in inspiring young readers by volunteering to read to a classroom and sharing the joy of storytelling!
Volunteer Position Description and Purpose:
Community volunteers will come in to kick off Read Across America by reading grade level appropriate books in a rotating schedule throughout the morning.
Volunteer Duties & Responsibilities:
Selecting books to read in K-5 classrooms (for an hour). Each classroom will be 15/20 minute intervals.
Qualifications, Skills, & Requirements:
Comfortable standing or sitting for a period of time, walking, using stairs.
Time Commitment:
45 minutes to 1 hour. You're welcome to register for more than one time slot if you'd like to read with us for longer!

Parking alongside the school.

Suggestion to bring layers to wear or remove since the building is unevenly heated sometimes!

Upon arrival, go straight to the main office with photo ID's to sign in and receive their visitor badge.
