Community Makerspace Membership Director
Organization Description: Build, RVA is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit makerspace community in Richmond, VA, dedicated to providing affordable access to tools, resources, and knowledge. We support entrepreneurs, creators, makers, and inventors by connecting them with a community of science-based innovators and artists in an environment where ideas become reality.
Volunteer Position Description & Purpose: We're seeking a friendly and organized volunteer to assist with community coordination, member onboarding, administrative support, and communication. Your role is essential to enhancing member experience, streamlining operations, and ensuring clear communication within our vibrant community.
Volunteer Duties & Responsibilities:
- Coordinate tours of the makerspace and handle follow-ups.
- Onboard new members, including sending welcome emails and app invitations.
- Respond promptly to phone calls using the 8x8 app and manage voicemails.
- Manage member accounts, invoices, classes, discounts, and storage using Nexudus.
- Handle membership and billing inquiries, including resolving feedback and complaints.
- Monitor and respond to inquiries via info@rvabuild.com or forward to appropriate board members.
- Monitor Slack channels, ensuring inquiries are addressed.
- Manage studio occupancy and proactively fill available studios.
- Draft and distribute regular newsletters (with input from the Board and volunteers).
- Develop and implement membership promotions.
Qualifications, Skills & Requirements:
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Background or interest in human resources and community engagement.
- Ability to interact effectively with diverse personality types.
- Comfortable using digital tools and platforms (Slack, Nexudus, email, Google aps, etc.).
Time Commitment:
- Commitment: At least one day per week. No upper limit on commitment.
Additional Information:
- Volunteer hours submitted and verified via internal Google form.
- Onsite orientation and training provided by the Board of Directors.
- There will usually ne at least one member of the BoD onsite to support the volunteer
- Volunteer will report directly to the BoD
- Recommended attire is casual.
- Parking available directly in front of the building.
- Volunteers will have full access to the facility, equipment, classes, and community.
