Brief Organizational Description:
The Alzheimer’s Association is the leading voluntary health organization in Alzheimer’s care, support, and research. Our mission is to lead the way to end Alzheimer's and all other dementia by accelerating global research, driving risk reduction and early detection, and maximizing quality care and support.
Volunteer Position Description and Purpose:
The Longest Day is a unique fundraising event where participants create their own event to raise funds and awareness for the fight against Alzheimer's. Volunteers have the freedom to organize an activity they love — anytime, anywhere — with full support from Association staff. Whether it’s a pickleball tournament, trivia night, bake sale, or backyard yoga session, it’s all about doing what you find FUN while making a difference.
Volunteer Duties & Responsibilities:
- Design and host a fundraising event that reflects your interests and strengths.
- Promote your event through social media, email, and word of mouth.
- Engage friends, family, and your community to participate and donate.
- Work with Alzheimer’s Association staff to receive resources and guidance.
- Encourage other participants and create a sense of community around your event.
Qualifications, Skills, & Requirements:
- Creativity and enthusiasm to plan and host an event.
- Strong communication and outreach skills.
- Ability to work independently while collaborating with Association staff.
- No special training or background checks required — just a passion for the cause!
- Staff will provide training and materials to help you succeed.
Time Commitment:
- Completely flexible — you decide when and where your event happens!
- Most volunteers spend a few hours planning and promoting their event in the weeks leading up to The Longest Day.
Other Information (if applicable):
- Volunteer hours can be tracked through a provided form or by checking in with staff.
- Orientation and training are available virtually or in person.
- Have fun with it! Your event should reflect what you love to do.
