ART 180's 2025 Block Party!
Brief Organizational Description: ART 180 is a collective of artists, young people, teachers, community members, and supporters of all kinds using the arts as a medium to cultivate self-understanding and joy in our community. ART 180 develops creative programming connecting artists to young people, to our community, and to each other through public events, workshops, and arts programs and opportunities for creative young people.

Volunteer Position Description and Purpose: ART 180’s Block Party: The Activation is a high-energy community event where the ART 180 collective fills the streets and creates a community space of music, art, games, dancing, treats, and other activations for everyone’s inner creativity!
We are looking for volunteers to be part of the event, helping us set up, keep things running, and assist with takedown and cleanup.
Volunteer Duties & Responsibilities:
The event will take the form of a neighborhood block party in the street right in front of our Atlas Gallery, from 4-9 p.m. on Friday, May 3rd. We have three volunteer shifts encompassing the event.
Shift one is from 12-3 p.m. Volunteers will assist us with setting up outside tents, tables, chairs, and displays. We’ll also be working to tidy up any litter on the block. (3-5 volunteers)
Shift two is from 3-6 p.m. Volunteers will assist in last-minute setup details before the event gets started at 4 p.m. We’ll need volunteers’ help running activities, welcoming guests, tallying attendance, helping us maintain a clean event, and for coverage in our gallery. (10 volunteers)
Shift three is from 6-9:30 p.m. Volunteers in this final shift will help run activities, welcome guests, tally attendance, help us maintain a clean event, and assist in breakdown and end-of-night clean up. (10 volunteers)
Qualifications, Skills, & Requirements: No special qualifications are necessary!
Time Commitment:
Shift one: Friday, May 2, from 12-3 p.m.
Shift two: Friday, May 2, from 3-6 p.m.
Shift three: Friday, May 2, from 6-9:30 p.m.
Other Information (if applicable):
* Dress for comfort on what could be a very warm day! Some activity setups will involve paint or clay, so please wear clothes that can get a little messy. Volunteers will be given a lanyard to identify them as a volunteer during the event.
* Parking is available at the RAS lot: 119 W Leigh St, Richmond, VA 23220
