Refresh Outdoor Community Playground at Better Housing Coalition Property

Better Housing Coalition changes lives and transforms communities through high-quality, affordable housing.
Volunteer Position Description and Purpose:
BHC is seeking 5-8 individuals or a group to stain and seal the wooden beam barrier of a playground and also stain and seal a new picnic table that is at the community playground for resident use. The playground has not been touched up since the early 2010's and with many families and children of all ages living at the property, we want to ensure families have a safe area to spend time at outdoors.
Volunteer Duties & Responsibilities:
Volunteers would spend time staining and sealing either the wooden beam barrier or the wooden picnic table. All materials and instruction will be provided along with refreshments and snacks.
Qualifications, Skills, & Requirements:
Ability to hold and utilize a paint brush.
Time Commitment:
Anytime between 8:30 AM - 4:30 PM. Project should not take any longer than 3 hours.
Other Information (if applicable):
- BHC staff will give a brief overview of the project and instructions upon arrival.
- Please wear comfortable clothing and shoes that you don't mind getting dirty/stained and will keep you cool in the outdoor temperatures. A hat and sunglasses are also recommended.
- There is ample parking in the parking lot on site.
- Feel free to bring your own refillable water bottle. Don't forget sunscreen and bug spray.
