RPS Youth Bike Build Day
Brief Organizational Description:
Richmond Public Schools (RPS) serves 25 elementary schools, including 1 charter school, 7 middle schools, 5 comprehensive high schools, 3 specialty schools and 5 preschool centers, with an enrollment of over 21,000 students. The primary goal of RPS is to prepare all students for postsecondary success.
Volunteer Position Description and Purpose:
The purpose of this initiative is to assemble new bicycles for RPS students who may not otherwise have one, This effort aims to give students a fun and healthy way to stay active while promoting wellness and joy. Research shows that learning to ride a bike provides a sense of accomplishment and boost self confidence.
Volunteer Duties & Responsibilities:
Volunteers will work together to assemble new bikes for children.
Qualifications, Skills, & Requirements:
- No experience necessary.
- All necessary materials and tools will be provided.
Time Commitment:
- Two shifts are available from between 11 am and 3 pm.
- Volunteers can sign up for one shift or both shifts.
Other Information (if applicable):
Please wear comfortable clothes that you don't mind getting a little dirty. Ample free street parking is available near the site.
Age Minimum (with Adult): 16+, Minimum Age:18+, Court Ordered Volunteer - Allowed
