Park Day at Richmond National Battlefield Park/Malvern Hill
Brief Organizational Description:
Capital Region Land Conservancy (CRLC) is dedicated to conserving the natural and historic resources of Virginia’s Richmond region for the benefit of people and nature.
Volunteer Position Description and Purpose:
Join CRLC and Richmond National Battlefield Park for a day of service at Malvern Hill in honor of the American Battlefield Trust's "Park Day" events happening across the country to support our national parks. We will gather to assist park staff with removal of invasive species.

Volunteer Duties & Responsibilities:
Volunteers will learn about invasive forest vegetation and how to control it. They will work to cut or pull certain identified weed species to foster healthy native forest as part of the battlefield landscape.
Time Commitment:
Saturday, April 25, 2026; 9:00am-12:30pm
9:00 - Introductions, safety briefing and information sharing
9:15 - Project work
11:30 - History talk about the Malvern Hill Battle and landscape
12:30 - Wrap up
Other Information:
Volunteers should bring a full water bottle, any snacks you might need. Hand tools and gloves will be available, but volunteers are encouraged to bring their own work gloves or preferred loppers, clippers, or handsaw if you have them. Project site can be muddy after weather, and it is in the woods, near a field edge with no trail access. Please dress appropriately.
The event will be cancelled in the event of inclement weather.
