Build Accessible Bike Trails
Pocahontas State Park is 80+ year old park, and yet we're still expanding to meet our visitor needs. Pocahontas strives to be accessible to all visitors, and so we are building brand new mountain bike trails. These new trails are designed for all bicycles including hand cycles. But building trails is a long process and with limited staff, volunteers make our trails happen.
Work can include cutting vegetation back, leaf raking, digging and shoveling dirt, operation of large equipment(over 18 only). Most work is done with hand tools--tools provided by Friends of PSP and rvaMORE.
Bring water, work gloves, a snack and wear sturdy shoes. Work will be outside so dress appropriately (with layers) so you can stay comfortable. See your My Account for parking and directions.
This project is a part of the MLK Day of Service.
Age Minimum (with Adult): 5+, Minimum Age:16+, Court Ordered Volunteer - Allowed
