Volunteer Position Description and Purpose:
Join the Greater Scott's Addition Association (GSAA) in collecting traffic data around the West Broad Street Green and Pollinator Park!
In Spring 2021, the City released a potential park design for the West Broad Street Green, a small, community-improved pocket park near the intersection of Wayne and Cutshaw along Broad Street. As we have led improvements in green space access and pedestrian safety in and around Scott's Addition, we are now seeking volunteer support to gather data on how an expanded park plan that would create even more public green space would affect traffic.
In partnership with Richmond Connects, the street beside the park will be blocked off for 2 weeks as a demonstration of how closing the street and allowing for expanded green space and pedestrian walkways would improve the area.
As part of this demonstraton, we need volunteers to count traffic at five intersections near the park at three different times of the day - the morning rush (7-9am), the afternoon commute (11am-1pm), and the evening rush (4-6pm). Volunteers will receive training on how to collect traffic data in advance as well as the day of the event.
Volunteer Duties & Responsibilities:
Volunteers will be stationed at intersections around the West Broad Street Green Park and log traffic data on a form. Volunteers will be provided with safety vests, pens and clipboards.
Qualifications, Skills, & Requirements:
Training will be provided at the site.

2 Hours per shift
