Juneteenth Jamboree & 5K Walk/Run
Brief Organizational Description:
VOWS Foundation is committed to being a bridge for under-resourced veterans and minority communities. We aim to empower them to take charge of their lives through mental health awareness and tools for personal growth.
Volunteer Position Description and Purpose:
Join us in celebrating freedom, unity, and resilience at our 5th Annual Juneteenth Jamboree & 5K Walk/Run. Volunteers are essential to creating a meaningful experience for attendees while supporting our mission to uplift underserved communities and veterans. Your role ensures the event runs smoothly and successfully raises funds for these vital causes.
Volunteer Duties & Responsibilities:
- Event Setup: Assist with setting up tables, chairs, signage, and vendor spaces.
- Registration Support: Help register participants for the 5K and provide event materials.
- Vendor Assistance: Support vendors with booth setup and directions.
- Route Monitoring: Cheer on participants and ensure their safety along the 5K route.
- Activity Oversight: Help facilitate family-friendly games and activities.
- Event Cleanup: Assist with breaking down tables, cleaning the area, and collecting event materials.
Qualifications, Skills, & Requirements:
- Enthusiasm and a positive attitude.
- Ability to stand or walk for extended periods (for roles such as route monitoring).
- No prior experience needed; orientation will be provided.
- Volunteers aged 16+; younger volunteers must be accompanied by an adult.
- Mandatory Online Training: All volunteers must complete an online training session to ensure readiness for an event hosting over 200 attendees.
Time Commitment:
- Date: Saturday, June 14, 2025
- Time: Shifts available from 6:00 AM to 5:00 PM
- Volunteers can select specific shifts or commit to the full day through our registration form that you will receive via email after expressing interest.
Other Information:
- Volunteer Hours Verification: Hours will be tracked and verified via check-in and check-out at the volunteer table.
- Orientation/Training: Online training is required, and a brief on-site orientation will occur 30 minutes before the shift starts.
- Recommended Attire: Comfortable clothing and closed-toe shoes. Juneteenth-themed or VOWS t-shirts encouraged (which will be provided day of)!
- Special Instructions: Please bring water bottles and any personal items you may need for the day.
