Organizational Description
Naomi’s Girls Youth Mentorship Program at Virginia State University is dedicated to empowering young women through mentorship, leadership development, and community engagement. Their mission is to foster personal growth, academic success, and civic responsibility among our members.
Volunteer Position Description & Purpose
Naomi’s Girls Youth Mentorship Program, in collaboration with the Office of Community Engagement, is hosting a campus clean-up event following Spring Fling on April 19, 2025, from 10:00 AM - 12:00 PM. Volunteers will play a key role in maintaining a clean and welcoming campus environment by assisting in litter collection and beautification efforts. This initiative helps promote environmental responsibility and campus pride.
Volunteer Duties & Responsibilities

Picking up litter and debris in designated areas.

Sorting and disposing of waste properly (recycling vs. trash).

Assisting with setting up and distributing clean-up supplies (gloves, bags, etc.).

Encouraging fellow students to participate in sustainability efforts.
Qualifications, Skills, & Requirements

No prior experience required.

Volunteers should be team-oriented, responsible, and enthusiastic about campus cleanliness.

Ability to work outdoors and walk moderate distances.

Volunteers must sign in upon arrival to confirm participation.

Must be a currently enrolled student at Virginia State University
Time Commitment

Date: Saturday, April 19, 2025

Time: 10:00 AM - 12:00 PM (2-hour commitment)

Volunteers should arrive 15 minutes early for check-in and instructions.

Volunteer Hours Verification: Attendance will be marked at check-in. Volunteers may also bring a log for signature if required by their organization.

Recommended Attire: Comfortable clothing, closed-toe shoes, and weather-appropriate gear.

Parking Information: Volunteers can park in designated campus lots. Specific details will be provided closer to the date.

Supplies Provided: Gloves, trash bags, and other clean-up materials will be available.

Special Instructions: Bring a reusable water bottle to stay hydrated. Sunscreen and hats are recommended for sun protection.
