DIY Hero POWER Packs for Connor's Heroes

Brief Organizational Description:
Founded in 2006 as a salute to Connor Goodwin, who triumphed after 2-1/2 years of cancer treatment as a preschooler, Connor’s Heroes is named after Connor and in honor of the heroes who supported his family throughout his treatment. Today, Connor’s Heroes is a Richmond, Virginia-based nonprofit dedicated to helping the families in Central Virginia cope with childhood cancer and our community’s researchers conquer it.  Join in being heroes to local childhood cancer families!

Volunteer Position Description and Purpose:
When children and their caregivers experience an inpatient stay at Children's Hospital of Richmond, food access can become a hardship.  Families can be faced with a financial hardship or unable to leave their child's room to access needed resources.  By supplying HERO POWER PACKS, caregivers have easy access to food and nutrition while not having to leave the inpatient floor.  HERO POWER PACKS are availble on a first come, first served basis in the Connor's Heroes Family Lounge, located just steps away from the child's room.

Volunteer Duties & Responsibilities:
Volunteers will purchase all necessary supplies and create the HERO POWER PACKS at their location.  After completion, the packs may be dropped off at our office.  An agreed upon drop off time will be coordinated by Connor's Heroes.

Qualifications, Skills, & Requirements:

This is a great opportunity for businesses, schools, civic associations, friends, and families looking for a way to support Connor's Heroes families remotely.
