Install Batting Cage

Brief Organizational Description: 
Start 1 Spark ignites student potential by increasing access to school extracurricular opportunities. When students have the resources they need to participate, they discover their interests and passions, learn new skills, and transform their future. Volunteers are an integral part of Start 1 Spark’s ability to build stronger school communities by offering their unique talents and compassion to encourage students to pursue their extracurricular dreams.

Volunteer Position Description and Purpose:
A generous donor has gifted John Rolfe Middle School a new batting cage for its baseball and softball teams. So students can take advantage of this generous gift, we need to install the cage before the school year begins! Let's get students ready to play ball!!

Volunteer Duties & Responsibilities:
Volunteers will work together to install a new batting cage on the grounds of John Rolfe Middle School. Volunteers will dig holes for the posts, pour concrete footings, and assemble the cage.

Qualifications, Skills, & Requirements:
Volunteers must be physically able to dig holes approximately 2' deep and 2' wide. 

Time Commitment:
Volunteers will spend approximately three (3) hours assembling and installing the batting cage.

Other Information (if applicable):

  • Instructions, tools, and materials will be provided
  • Wear work clothes and closed toed shoes that can get dirty
  • There is plenty of parking in the main lot at the school
