Cool the City - Tree Planting at Boushall Middle School
Brief Organizational Description:
The mission of Southside ReLeaf is to improve the quality of life in the Southside by greening communities and advocating with our neighbors.
Volunteer Position Description and Purpose:
Are you ready to plant some trees?! Trees provide shade, lift our mood, provide wildlife habitat, sequester carbon, and help cool our city. Please join us as we add fifty or more trees to the Boushall Middle School landscape!
Volunteer Duties & Responsibilities:
Volunteers will be planting trees in pre-augered holes. Training on how to plant a tree will be provided at the beginning of the day. Volunteers will use tools including shovels, wheelbarrows, and others to loosen tree roots, maneuver a tree into its new home in the ground, and spread mulch.
Qualifications, Skills, & Requirements:
No special skills are required, and it is a great opportunity to learn! A willingness and ability to perform the duties listed is all you need to have.
Time Commitment:
Saturday, November 15, 2025
9:00a-1:00p (4 hours)
If you would like to arrive late or leave early, please commit a minimum of two hours to being onsite.
Other Information (if applicable):
- Volunteers will be marked in the CFEngage system. If you need a signature to document attendance, please bring your form with you.
- Dress for the work and the weather. Closed-toe shoes are required. Long pants are recommended.
- Feel free to bring your own gloves. Gloves will be provided.
- Please bring a reusable water bottle. Water and snacks will be provided.
- A group demonstration to help familiarize everyone with how to plant a tree will be held at the beginning of the workday.
