VCU Day of Service: Swansboro Playground tree maintenance
Soiuthsde Releaf invites VCU service day volunteers to join us in performing important tree maintenance as Winter comes to a close.
Brief Organizational Description:
Our mission is to improve health outcomes and the quality of life for Southside Richmond by building green spaces and advocating for people-centered policy.
Volunteer Position Description and Purpose:
Volunteers will be assisting with raking, weeding and remulching trees.
Volunteer Duties & Responsibilities:
Work will involve standing to rake, bending to remove weeds and moving loads of mulch via wheelbarrow and/or shovel.
Qualifications, Skills, & Requirements:
No special qualifications, skills or requirements are necessary other than a willingness to get a little dirty, sweaty and a love of completing a beautification project.
Time Commitment:
March 19, 2026 10am - 12pm (2 hours)
Other Information (if applicable):
- Volunteers will be marked in the CFEngage system. If you need a signature to document attendance, please bring your form with you.
- Wear closed toe shoes and clothing with which you have no issue getting dirty.
- Please bring a reusable water bottle.
- Feel free to bring your own gloves. Gloves and tools will be provided.
