Take a Tour of Our Food Pantry and Clothing Closet

Brief Organizational Description:

Belmont Community Resource Services is a strong and dependable food and clothing pantry that serves community residents who struggle each month to make ends meet so that we may help catch those who are falling. The Belmont Pantry is supported by a small staff and a network of hard working volunteers who sort donated foods, pack weekly bags, and serve all who come to the pantry every Friday (over 700 families each week). The Closet at Belmont is a free store in which our neighbors can shop for clothes, shoes, housewares, small appliances (for cooking), hygiene items, toys, books, and so much more!  We also stock sturdy reusable bags, rolling suitcases, and adult backpacks to support those who walk, bike, or take the bus and need help transporting their food and clothing home.

Volunteer Position Description and Purpose:

Come take a tour of The Closet and Food Pantry at Belmont led by a staff member! In this tour we will take you around our facilities while we explain what happens on a daily basis to plan and prepare for a large food distribution that takes place every Friday. We will also discuss our various volunteer opportunities that occur throughout the week and explain how you can get involved as well as answer any questions you might have.

Most of this is not applicable to this tour

  • We will have volunteers sign in when they arrive and sign out when they leave so we can keep track of all of the time our volunteers have committed.
  • Upon arrival we give all of our new volunteers all the information they will need.
  • We recommend closed toe shoes and weather appropriate attire. Much of the work we do is outside. In the event of rain we will accomplish the work under our large car port.
