2026 Summer Games - Special Olympics Virginia
The 2026 Special Olympics Virginia Summer Games will take place June 5-6 at the University of Richmond, and several surrounding locations. Over 1,200 athletes and coaches will travel from across the state to go for the gold in 5 different sports: bowling, softball, swimming, tennis and track and field. We also celebrate the weekend with an Opening Ceremony Friday night and an athlete dance on Saturday night. Plus, thanks to local healthcare providers and sponsors, we are able to offer Healthy Athletes where athletes can receive free dental, eye and ear screenings and treatment, as well as several other health promotions.

Special Olympics Virginia’s mission is to provide year-round sports training and athletic competition in a variety of Olympic-type sports for persons with intellectual disabilities, giving them continuing opportunities to develop physical fitness, demonstrate courage, experience joy, and participate in the sharing of gifts, skills and friendship with their families, other Special Olympics athletes and the community.
