Southside Community Garden Steward - Interest Meeting
Brief Organizational Description:
Southside ReLeaf is a community-based organization committed to environmental justice in South Richmond. Our goal is to improve the life expectancy and quality of life for Southside residents by increasincpaces, reducing pollution and improving infrastructure. We believe in uplifting voices that are often unheard and people-powered advocacy to build climate resilient neighborhoods.
Volunteer Position Description and Purpose:
Southside ReLeaf helps to support two community gardens in the Southside of Richmond, Blackwell Community Garden and Stockton Community Garden. We are looking for some dedicated individuals who can join our Garden Steward cohort. This is an opportunity to become a leader, organizer, and gardener in your community. This cohort of Garden Stewards will practice communal governance of park space and shape the direction of food access, and gardening in Richmond!
Volunteer Duties & Responsibilities:
- Be a part of the decision making process around what is planted in the garden
- Help with maintenance of the garden to include watering and weeding
- Support the organization of community workdays at the garden
Qualifications, Skills, & Requirements:
You do not need specific gardening experience for this role, however having previous gardening experience is great!
We need committed and consistent individuals to help this garden space thrive!
Time Commitment:
This is just an interest meeting from 3-4pm

- Park in the parking lot alongside the garden space
