Oak Grove Community Cleanup & Fair
Brief Organizational Description:
The City of Richmond’s Office of Neighborhood Engagement (ONE), in partnership with VCU and the Oak Grove community, works to strengthen neighborhoods by connecting residents with resources, supporting community-led initiatives, and creating opportunities for meaningful community engagement.
Volunteer Position Description and Purpose:
Volunteers will support the Oak Grove Community Cleanup & Resource Fair, a community event focused on beautifying the neighborhood, bringing residents together, and connecting families with local organizations and resources. Volunteers are essential to helping clean and improve shared community spaces while also supporting a welcoming and organized resource fair for residents.
Volunteer Duties & Responsibilities:
Volunteers may assist with litter and trash pickup throughout the designated cleanup area, help distribute cleanup supplies, and support the collection and proper disposal of filled trash bags. Volunteers may also assist with event setup and breakdown, welcome and direct residents, help community partners and resource vendors as needed, and support general event activities.
Qualifications, Skills, & Requirements:
No previous experience or special training is required.
Volunteers should be comfortable working outdoors, walking for short periods, and participating in light physical activity.
Volunteers under 18 should participate with appropriate adult supervision.

- Dress comfortabley, closed-toe shoes required
- Parking: street parking alongside the community center
- May do some mild lifting when moving and setting up tables
