Oregon Hill Street Tree Blitz! (Volunteer Street Tree Planting)

Join the Alliance for the Chesapeake Bay, the Oregon Hill Neighborhood Association and Richmond Tree Stewards in an all out blitz to enhance tree canopy in Oregon Hill! We are looking for volunteers to plant over 50 street trees in 3 days. Three volunteer tree plantings will be held on:

- Thursday, Novemerber 5th, 9AM - Noon

- Friday, November 6th, 9AM - Noon

- Saturday, November 6th, 9AM - Noon

Volunteers will plant trees throughout the neighborhood. Trees in our urban areas provide many benefits such as stormwater management, wildlife habitat and shade.

Volunteers are encouraged to wear clothing appropriate for outside work - long sleeves, long pants, and close-toed shoes are recommended. Bring a water bottle. Activities will include preparing trees and tree wells for planting, amending soil, planting trees and mulching and watering around planting sites. If you have never planted a tree before, do not worry. We will provide instruction. All necessary tools will be provided.

We will meet at Pleasants Park at the beginning of each event at 9AM. Tree planting sites are located within a few blocks of Pleasants Park within Oregon Hill. Street parking is available surrounding Pleasants Park.

Groups welcome.
