Helpful Tips
Volunteer Numbers: Projects can involve up to 35 volunteers. Larger projects can be considered separately.
Budget Considerations: If your proposal exceeds $5,000, consider splitting it into smaller projects:
- Project 1: Example – 10 volunteers – one to two hours – $1675 budget
- Project 2: Example – 25 volunteers – three to four hours – $5000 budget
Project Overview: On the Altria volunteer preview page, the Project Overview is your first opportunity to captivate Altria volunteer team leaders and get them interested in your project. There is a sweet spot between being informative and concise that could help things along. Here are some sample Project Overviews:
Project Overview: Community Playground Revamp Help us bring joy and excitement to local children by revamping our community playground! Volunteers will assist in painting playground equipment, installing new swings, and setting up a picnic area. Your efforts will create a vibrant and safe play area for children and families to enjoy. Let’s make this playground a haven of fun and laughter!
Project Overview: Urban Green Space Revival Join us in transforming an underutilized urban space into a beautiful green oasis! Volunteers will work together to plant trees, set up garden beds, and create walking paths. This project aims to provide a peaceful retreat for community members and promote environmental sustainability. Let’s bring nature back to our urban landscape!
Hopper Projects: Have some sort of hopper project ready and included not only as a contingency plan for volunteers if they finish early, but as a consideration for volunteers who may have limited access to project tasks. Note/card writing is always great and organizing/cleaning tasks are also beneficial.
We hope these tips help. If you’d like to discuss further, I’d be happy to hop on a brief call to go over any ideas you may have.
Thank you for your continued partnership. We look forward to receiving your proposals and working together to create impactful volunteer opportunities.
