Support families transitioning out of homelessness with practical items they need to start fresh.


Cleaning Kits for HFF Families

When families arrive at Housing Families First’s Hilliard House emergency shelter—or move into permanent housing—they often do so with few or no belongings. Your donation of a Cleaning Kit or helps ensure families have the essentials needed to care for their new home.

This project is perfect for individuals, families, congregations, youth groups, civic organizations, companies, neighbors, and more!


Cleaning Kit Contents (pack in a reusable tote or bucket): Kits do not need to include everything listed.  We ask for at least 5 items for a completed kit.

  • Broom & Dustpan

  • Mop & Bucket

  • All-Purpose Spray Cleaner

  • Sponges (2)

  • Microfiber Cloths or Rags

  • Toilet Brush & Holder

  • Toilet Bowl Cleaner

  • Dish Soap

  • Disinfectant Spray or Wipes

  • Glass Cleaner

  • Rubber or Latex-Free Gloves

  • Trash Bags (kitchen-size)

  • Optional: Laundry Detergent, Air Freshener, Bleach

All kit items must be new and full-sized.


Important Kit Guidelines:

  • Kits do not need to include everything listed.  We ask for at least 5 items for a completed kit.

  • After expressing interest, someone from HFF’s team will follow up within 2 business days to thank you and answer questions.

  • Kits should be delivered to:
    Housing Families First – 3900 Nine Mile Rd., Richmond, VA 23223
    Monday–Friday between 9:00 a.m.–5:00 p.m.

  • Each completed kit is equal to 2 hours of community service.

  • You can start assembling kits at your earliest convince after signing up.

  • For court-ordered community service, please confirm kit eligibility with your program and notify us upon expressing interest.

  • Donation receipts are available upon request.
