Join Capital Trees for the very first Community Volunteer Day at Hotchkiss Green!
Saturday August 9, 2025
9am-Noon
Capital Trees specializes in collaborative urban greenspace development and maintenance. We work to create and maintain outdoor spaces that enhance both Richmond's community and environment. Come learn about trees and pollinators while making Richmond a little greener!
Volunteer Duties
Volunteers will assist with several new installations and maintenance around Hotchkiss Field Community Center (701 E Brookland Park Blvd) including:
- Garden Maintenance
- Garden planting (pollinator garden)
- Mulching and more
Requirements
No gardening experience necessary! But ideally volunteers should be ready to:
- Bend, squat, kneel, and /or stand for extended periods
- Lift up to 15lbs
- Use small hand tools such as: troul, shovel, etc
- Be comfortable working outside
Family-friendly event! All are welcome!

- Free parking available onsite and ample street parking available
