Brief Organizational Description:
Capital Trees specializes in collaborative urban greenspace development and maintenance We work to create and maintain outdoor spaces that enhance both Richmond's community and environment. Come learn about the positve impact of plants and pollinators on our communities.
Volunteer Position Description and Purpose:
Volunteers will assist with weeding, mulching, transplanting and planting in the newly established gardens around the walking trail at Hotchkiss Community Center
Volunteer Duties & Responsibilities:
- Weeding
- Mulching
- Planting
Qualifications, Skills, & Requirements:
No gardening experience necessary! But ideally volunteers should be ready to:
- Bend, squat, kneel and/or stand for extended periods of time
- Lift up to 15lbs
- Use small hand tools such as a trowel, shovel, ptichfork
- Be comfortable working outside
Time Commitment:
Volunteers may arrive any time between 4p.m. and 6 p.m. and stay whatever length of time fits their schedule. The workday opportunity will end at 7p.m.
Other Information (if applicable):
- Free parking available onsite and ample street parking available
- Sign in next to the pool
- Bring plenty of water. No potable water on site
- Lavatory is a port-a-potty
- Closed toed shoes required
