Springfield Park Community Tree Planting w/ Capital Trees

Springfield Park Tree Planting

Saturday November 8th

9-11:30am

Join Capital Trees and Henrico County Parks and Recreation for a

Volunteer Community Tree Planting!

Capital Trees is a local nonprofit working to transform Richmond’s public landscapes into thriving, sustainable greenspaces that restore nature and strengthen community. With the help of volunteers, partners, and neighbors, we nurture vital habitats that clean air and water, welcome wildlife, and create space for health and connection. So we invite you to step off the pavement, get your hands in the dirt, and be part of planting a greener, healthier city!

Trees improve our environment, our health, and our communities. Trees clean our air and water, reduce extreme temperatures, and create more connected communities. They filter stormwater, provide habitats for pollinators and other wildlife, and improve our physical and mental health. They also mitigate the effects of heat islands and heat-related illnesses; in fact, heat-island effects can increase temperatures by 10-20 degrees in an urban area! Enhancing Richmond’s tree canopy coverage is a step toward a healthier, happier, and more equitable community.

Volunteers will help plant 20 trees at Springfield Park, increasing Henrico’s tree canopy and enhancing biodiversity in the park.
