Featured DIY - Cold Weather Kits for Homeward
DIY Volunteering allows individuals, families and groups of all ages and sizes to participate in community service from the comfort of their own homes. Volunteers purchase supplies and complete the kits in their own space then drop off completed projects at the designated days/times below.
Cold Weather Kits for People Experiencing Homelessness
Beneficiary: Homeward
Purpose: These cold weather kits will provide individuals experiencing homelessness with essential safety care during the coldest months of the year. In January, Homeward will conduct their “Point in Time” count. A point-in-time count is an unduplicated count on a single night of the people in a community who are staying in shelters or sleeping outside. This count gives them an opportunity to hear directly about the crisis of homelessness from those who are most impacted by the crisis. Your compassionate cold weather kits will help keep these individuals warm, healthy, and hopeful during our winter months. Outreach workers in the community report that having a cold weather kit can help to build trust and to make connections with our neighbors experiencing homelessness.
Volunteers are asked to make 3 Cold Weather Kits with an encouraging note.
