New Trees for a New Neighborhood: Community Tree Planting in Highland Grove

Groundwork RVA is growing the Next Generation of Urban conservationists in Richmond, VA. Together, we can build a greener, more equitable Richmond, VA.

Celebrate Earth Week with Groundwork RVA! Join us for a community tree planting in the brand new afforable housing development, Highland Grove, on Saturday, April 25th from 9am-Noon. 

Volunteers will plant street trees for our new neighbors. No experience necessary. Training will be provided by our staff and we will form groups with our apprentices and experienced volunteers. 

  • We will kick off at 9am with a tree planting demonstration. 
  • Planting holes will be pre-augered. 
  • Please wear closed-toe shoes. 
  • Dress comfortably in layers in clothes you don't mind getting dirty. 
  • Bring hats, sunscreen, and anything else to protect you from the elements. 
  • Bring a refillable water bottle. Water coolers for refills will be available on site.
  • A porta potty will be on site. 
  • Volunteer attendance will be recorded on CFengage. Groundwork RVA staff is available to sign any other documentation by request.  

 

  • Park along Althea and Juniper Streets as shown on the map below. We will kick off at the corner of Robinson Crossing and Juniper.
