Richmond Tree Week kickoff event - Davee Gardens tree maintenance
Brief Organizational Description:
Southside ReLeaf is dedicated to making Southside Richmond a greener, healthier, and more connected community by addressing environmental injustices and advocating for equitable green spaces.
Volunteer Position Description and Purpose:
Volunteers will be assisting with raking, weeding and remulching trees. This maintenance will ensure that these trees continue to grow healthily.
Volunteer Duties & Responsibilities:
Work will involve standing to rake, bending to remove weeds and moving loads of mulch via wheelbarrow and/or shovel.
Qualifications, Skills, & Requirements:
No special qualifications, skills or requirements are necessary other than a willingness to get a little dirty, sweaty and a love of completing a beautification project.
Time Commitment:
9am-11am (2 hours)
Late arrivals and early departures are allowed but please commit to a minimum of 90 min. onsite.
Other Information (if applicable):
- Please bring any volunteer documents you need signed to verify hours.
- Wear closed toe shoes and clothing with which you have no issue getting dirty.
- Park near the old TB Smith Community Center/Ruffin Rd. where we will be initially meeting or anywhere in between the center and Reyburn Rd. and Deerwood Rd. where work will take place.
- Please bring a water bottle to stay hydrated. Water and snacks will also be provided.
- Feel free to bring your own gloves. Gloves and tools will be provided
- GPS 3412 Reyburn Rd. to find us if you are running late!
