Richmond Tree Week Site Preparation for Henderson Middle School Tree Planting
Groundwork RVA is growing the Next Generation of Urban conservationists in Richmond, VA. Together, we can build a greener, more equitable Richmond, VA.
Stay active on Election Day and help us prepare us for a community tree planting at Henderson Middle School to celebrate Richmond Tree Week and Cool the City.
Cool City is a collaborative, city-wide campaign to increase the city’s tree canopy, improve health outcomes, invest in workforce development programs and mitigate the impacts of extreme heat and weather across the City of Richmond. Funding for this project provided by the USDA Forest Service, Urban and Community Forestry Program in partnership with the City of Richmond.
Opportunity Details:
Tuesday, November 3rd 10am-Noon
Volunteers will assist with site preparation in advance of Saturday's community tree planting. No experience necessary. Join Groundwork RVA's staff and Green Infrastructure and Arbor Care apprentices to prepare planting sites, stage materials, and get ready for a successful planting event.
- We will kick off at the 10:00am and assign tasks.
- Please arrive a few minutes beforehand to sign in.
- Please wear closed-toe shoes.
- Dress comfortably in layers in clothes you don't mind getting dirty.
- Bring hats, sunscreen, and anything else to protect you from the elements.
- Bring a refillable water bottle. Water coolers for refills will be available on site.
- A restroom is available on site.
- Volunteer attendance will be recorded on CFengage. Groundwork RVA staff is available to sign any other documentation by request.
- Parking is available in the Henderson Middle School lot, marked with a red P on the map below.
- We will meet in the bus loop to kick off, shown below with a yellow star.
