The Organization:
The James River Park System consists of approximately 600 acres of forested land in the city of Richmond along the James River. Staff and volunteers work year-round to remove invasive plants and create opportunity for native species to thrive.
The Event:
Join the James River Park System's Invasive Species Management team in removing invasive plants and contributing to native habitat and biodiversity!
Leaders and volunteers will meet at 10am on scheduled Tuesday mornings at Pony Pasture. We will use hand pruners, loppers, and/or handsaws to remove invasive vines, shrubs, and trees. You may bring your own work gloves and non-electric tools if you'd like. Otherise, tool, work gloves, and instructions will be provided by JRPS staff.
Volunteer Responsibilities:
*Register to participate and receive updates about event.
*Arrive by the start time (10am). Stay until the end of event (12pm).
*Wear long sleeves, long pants, socks and sturdy closed-toe shoes.
*Bring drinking water.

*In addition to the event description (above), physical activities also include walking, bending, kneeling, and squatting. With questions or concerns, please feel free to contact the event coordinator prior to event.
*Experience isn't necessary (but learning is!)
Hazards include but are not limited to: poison ivy, thorns, stinging insects, uneven terrain and weather conditions. Please prepare accordingly.
Location:
We will meet in the large gravel parking lot of Pony Pasture, next to the intersection of Riverside Dr and Rockfalls Dr. For directions, use address 7400 Riverside Dr. Richmond, VA 23225, and then follow signs for Pony Pasture.
