RISAW 2026: Forest Hill Park Work Event
The mission of Friends of Forest Hill Park is to advocate for and to preserve Forest Hill Park, concentrating on the historic buildings and trails, the native plant life and fauna, the local watershed, and the public use of the grounds and facilities.
Event Description: February's work event is in observance of Richmond Invasive Species Awareness Week (RISAW), which is coordinated by the James River Park System Invasive Species Task Force. Invasive plants are removed from Richmond's city parks because they outcompete native plants, and native plants provide food, protection, and places to reproduce and live for native birds, insects, and mammals.
Time Commitment: Up to 2 hours. Please arrive BEFORE the start time.
What to Bring: Work gloves if you have them. Long pants and closed footwear are strongly recommended.
Weather: We will work unless there's severe weather or heavy rain.
Default Meeting Location: "Forest Hill Historic District" sign in the 3800 block of Forest Hill Ave. which is east of Roanoke St. traffic light. Closest parking is across F.H. Ave. on Brookside Rd.
