Blackwell Garden Activation
Southside ReLeaf invites you to join us for the activation of Blackwell Community Garden, a new community garden space in the Southside of Richmond!
Brief Organizational Description:
Our mission is to improve health outcomes and the quality of life for Southside Richmond by building green spaces and advocating for people-centered policy.
Volunteer Position Description and Purpose:
Volunteers will help to select seeds and seedlings to plant in the new garden beds. The intention of this garden space is to be a learning garden, where community members can gain experience growing food and flowers.
Volunteer Duties & Responsibilities:
Use hands for seed planting and shovels for filling garden beds. Volunteers may also help weed around fruit trees.
Qualifications, Skills, & Requirements:
Anyone with a willingness to show some love to this green space is welcome to join!
Time Commitment:
Saturday, March 28, 2026 10 a.m. - 1 p.m. (3 hours)
Other Information (if applicable):
- Volunteer attendance will be tracked in the CFengage system. If you need a signature to document attendance, please bring your form.
- Please wear long pants and closed-toe shoes.
- Parking is available in the new permeable parking lot. You may also park on Maury Street and in the adjacent neighborhood if the lot is full.
- Please bring a refillable water bottle. You are welcome to bring your own gloves, but we will provide a pair to everyone.
