Pony Pasture Invasive Plant Management & Habitat Restoration
Help remove invasive plants and “free trees” in Pony Pasture to restore habitat and support wildlife!
Work with a JRPS invasive plant management coordinator to improve the ecological health of these important park system woodlands.
This winter we will work at different sites on different activities. For some activities, volunteers will not use any tools, for others they will use pruners, handsaws, and/or loppers. In January we will be focusing on manual removal of invasive vine groundcover.
Volunteers MUST:
- Arrive on time for orientation and training and to reach the work site.
- Dress appropriately in long-sleeves and long pants. Yoga pants, leggings, and other styles that snag are discouraged. Wear layers in cold weather - you will warm up quickly!
- Bring a water bottle.
- Tools and work gloves are provided.

DIRECTIONS TO PONY PASTURE, 7200 Riverside Drive:
Traveling west on Forest Hill Avenue, turn right on Old Westham. Old Westham becomes Longview. Continue on Longview for about one mile until you reach the stop sign at the intersection with Rockfalls Drive. Turn right on Rockfalls. Bear left around the traffic circle at the intersection with Riverside Drive. Turn right into the Pony Pasture parking lot.
