Buttermilk Trail East Habitat Restoration
Join the James River Park System and your Woodland Heights neighbors to learn about native and invasive plants and get your hands dirty removing invasive species to preserve the tree canopy and continue restoring this special habitat. This will be a recurring event on Thursday afternoons.
Please meet near the corner of Riverside Drive and 26th St at 2pm for introduction, tools, and plant identification basics before we begin removing invasive shrubs and vines. We will occasionally need to adjust our location depending on weather and seasonal needs. If the location is updated, you will receive a notification email.
If you arrive late, you must have your own gloves and tools and find us in the park in order to participate.
Participants must bring their own water and should wear long pants and long sleeves to protect themselves from poison ivy, thorns, and insects. Hand tools and gloves will be provided for those who need them.
Any youth under 18, even if accompanied by an adult, must email a completed Youth Waiver Form (LINK) to gera@jamesriverpark.org before the event to be able to participate. Any youth under 16 must work with their accompanying adult the entire time. No drop offs.
If you need volunteer hours recorded, you must bring your own form for the leader to sign. If you don't have one already, you can print THIS ONE (LINK)
