Opportunity Details

RVA Green Drinks Habitat Restoration

The Organization:

The James River Park System consists of approximately 600 acres of forested land in the city of Richmond along the James River. Staff and volunteers work year-round to remove invasive plants and create opportunity for native species to thrive.

Event Description:

RVA Green Drinks members and guests are invited to join JRPS to remove invasive plant species along the Buttermilk Trail near park headquarters. We will meet at the main parking lot before walking to our worksite. At this time of year, we usually focus on manual removal of invasive vines from the ground and trees before our native spring ephemerals emerge. Tools and training will be provided, but participants are encouraged to bring their own work gloves if available! Parking can be limited, participants are encouraged to car-pool and arrive a little early in case the lot is full. Street parking can be found in Forest Hill Neighborhood, additional parking is available at the 42nd Street lot, approximately 5 minute walk away.
